Sometimes, the quiet battles are the most fierce. I remember wrestling a king sized sheet; those elastic edges, they feel alive, resisting every fold. You conquer one corner, another springs free. It coils, it snaps. It truly does have a mind, a will of its own. And then, once you finally subdue it, flatten its rebellions, there it is; a tiny, unexpected prize clutched in its soft, vast dominion. A single, forgotten sock. A testament to the sheet’s secret, chaotic hunger. Perhaps it never vanished at all; perhaps it was merely claimed.
